2019 – The Year of Endless Possibilities!

christian life Jan 09, 2019

Do you believe that?

It truly is ….

…. the year of endless possibilities!

Every year has endless possibilities.

Every month has endless possibilities.

Every week and every day has endless possibilities.

Have you ever thought about that? You don’t know what is going to happen in the next minute, hour, day, week, month, year, decade, etc.

Your wildest dreams could come true. You could come into an inheritance and begin that business you’ve always dreamt of. You could finally be going on that dream holiday that you have longed for for years. You could find your healing that you have been praying for. You could go on an unexpected adventure with new friendships, a new career, a new baby …. the possibilities are truly endless.

“… for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”   (Matthew 17:20 NASB)

Did you catch that? You only have to have a small amount of faith and NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO YOU!

This is an incredible promise.

As a side note, let me just put this in context. Jesus is talking about the ‘nothing’ being anything that is in the will of God. He won’t help you rob a bank or cheat on your spouse, obviously, but He will help you start a business, fulfil your deepest desire to help others in your own unique way, and especially – to love others.

God is not a killjoy. He doesn’t mind you having nice things or going on holidays or buying a house or a car – as long as you can afford them and these things don’t become more important than Him. After all, He created beautiful things and these incredible ideas came from Heaven in the first place. Why would He keep them from His children?

I love what Kris Vallotton says, “If you don’t like wealth, you certainly won’t like Heaven.”
So very true. God is not against wealth, He just doesn’t want wealth used for selfish purposes. You need wealth to help others. You can only give out of what you have.

DREAM BIG!

Have you ever done that, sat down and just let your imagination run wild with all the things that you would love to do?

You can’t think bigger than God. His purpose for you is bigger than you have probably ever though of.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 1I will be found by you, says the Lord,” (Jeremiah 29:11-14a NKJV)

This is another very exciting promise. Often the first part of these verses are often quoted and I think, “That’s nice but how can I appropriate that to my own life?” But, if the next verses are read in conjunction with the first, the answer awaits us.

God promises that when we call upon Him He will listen to us, we will find Him and Jeremiah 33:3 says that He promises to answer us:

“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.

May I challenge you to make this the year that you dream big and see what purposes God has in store for you. As He begins to bring opportunities to you, don’t dismiss them and think that you can’t do that. Don’t let fear stop you from having the most amazing year of your life to date.

“Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.” (Psalm 37:4-5 NASB)

Holy Spirit showed me a different way of looking at this verse one day. He said that it was God who first put those desires in my heart in the first place – when He knit me together in my mother’s womb.

God put the best desires in your heart before you were fully formed. Do you not think that He would love nothing more than to see those desires come to fruition? He put them there as part of your purpose for your life. Your innermost dreams and desires are a very good indicator of what your life is all about.

So, what does this mean for you?

Action Steps

Anything is possible this year.

I challenge you to take time in the near future to sit with some paper and a pen (not anything electronic. Go old fashioned style, that way it’s less easier to become distracted.)

Ask God to speak to you and take the time to just imagine some of your possibilities for this year – 2019. Your imagination was given to you by God in the first place. This is where God drops ideas for every good man-made thing. Why can’t He drop ideas into yours? The fact is, He actually does on a daily basis but you may not recognise that all your good ideas actually come from Heaven above.

Don’t be afraid. Dream big and have fun.

Focus. What do you see? Zoom out so you can see the big picture. Zoom in to look at the minute details. Put yourself in the picture. Use your imagination senses. What do you feel? What do you smell? What can you hear? Let the excitement rise in your heart and focus on what you are seeing.

If a thought is negative, throw it out and replace it with a wonderful thought. Your dreams will become bigger and bigger as you take the time to imagine.

Write, write, write! Make sure you write or draw the details down after you have finished imagining. I have a journal where I keep these dreams. Maybe you could buy one specifically for this purpose. This is important as details get lost in the day to day business of life. This gives you the chance to go back and revisit the dreams. Talk to God about them and see what He wants to add. He is so interested in everything that you are interested in. He loves you dearly.

Review these dreams and pictures on a daily basis, especially on those bad days when life gets tough. It will inspire you to keep moving forward.

Happy dreaming!
