Does God Always Want To Heal You?

Does God Always Want To Heal You?

christian life healing miracles Jun 25, 2019

Have you ever wondered if God would really heal you? Does He even want to? If so, why are there so many people sick in the world?

Very interesting questions that I am positively sure have crossed your mind once or a thousand times.

Would God really want to heal you?

ALWAYS with NO exception.

Really? ABSOLUTELY!

Jesus healed EVERYONE who came to Him, no exception. The most amazing thing is that He gave the same ability to pray for the sick, raise the dead and cast out demons to those that have relationship with Him – that’s you!

Mark confirms that we too can pray and the sick WILL recover. Check it out.

“And these miracle signs WILL accompany those who believe: They WILL drive out demons in the power of my name. They WILL speak in tongues. They WILL be supernaturally protected from snakes and from drinking anything poisonous. AND THEY WILL LAY HANDS ON THE SICK AND HEAL THEM.

Mark 16:17-18 (TPT)

“These miracle signs will accompany those who believe: they will lay hands on the sick and heal them.”

That settles it really. This means that the sick will be healed if we lay hands on them and pray.

Back to, does God really want to heal you?

To know what God is like, we need to look at how Jesus acted while He was on earth in human form. He healed ALL who came to Him. ALL! Did you get that?

“While He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” And He stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately the leprosy left him.”

Luke 5:12-13 (NASB)

It has been noted here by the physician, Dr Luke, that Jesus is indeed willing and healing came straight after.

Jesus is always willing to heal!

He didn’t even have any stipulations before He healed people.

Why would we be told to do this if it wasn’t going to happen? Do you think that God sets you up for failure for his amusement? Absolutely not!

He told the woman caught in adultery to ‘Go and sin no more” AFTER He healed her.

AFTER Jesus healed people, THEN they glorified God and followed Jesus.

Jesus always met the people at their point of need.

Paul’s Thorn In His Flesh

I have heard many people use the “thorn in my side” Scripture (2 Corinthians 12:7) as a means to justify why they have not been healed. This greatly saddens my heart so I’ll quickly address it here. I have 2 points regarding this Scripture.

Firstly, Paul received this ‘messenger of Satan’ (not sickness) BECAUSE he had received such great and amazing revelation from God and he wasn’t to get a big head with it. Satan often uses people to harass other people and therefore become a ‘thorn in the side’.

Secondly, Numbers 33:55 refers to the inhabitants of the land becoming “as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides.”

“A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expectlife in its fullness until you overflow!

John 10:10 (TPT)

If Jesus came to give us abundant life until you overflow, where does sickness and lack fit into this equation?

God is the restorer of ALL things. (Joel 2)

Father God is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that you ask or think, according to the power that works within you. (Ephesians 3:20)

If you want healing for your child, or even yourself, how much more do you think God wants to heal? Wouldn’t you take the pain away of someone you love, without hesitation? Father God wants to do that a thousand times more than you do.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)

By His stripes you ARE healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

By His wounds you WERE healed. 1 Peter 2:24

Why are there still sick people in the world?

I certainly would never profess to have all the answers because I don’t. However, I have noticed a couple of things over the years in the Bible and through my own experiences.

Let’s look to Jesus first as He’s the best place to start.

Jesus couldn’t heal in Nazareth because of wrong belief systems.

This is one of the biggest hindrances to healing.

In all the times that I have been praying for people, I have noticed a very common thread. The biggest hindrance to healing is wrong belief systems or not wanting to be healed.

Each person who has said to me, “God will heal me if He wants to”, or they believe that the sickness, disease, or injury is from God to teach them a lesson – absolutely none of them have been healed when I prayed.

“Everything you pray for with the fullness of faith you will receive!”

Matthew 21:22 (TPT)

Jesus accomplished the healing of the sick around 2000 years ago when He was whipped and beaten, died on the cross and then was resurrected to life. If that’s not the ultimate healing, I don’t know what is.

Think about it. Jesus’ body was so beaten and torn that He was unrecognisable the Bible says (Isaiah 54:14). Yet when He appeared to the disciples, the only scars or evidence that He had suffered were the holes in His hands and His feet.

Talk about a full body overhaul!

If God will do this for Jesus, He will do this for you too.

One of the other things is that some people don’t want to be healed. I once tried to pray depression off someone. I could see what was going on in the spirit realm and depression looks like a thick, black, tarp like blanket that is suffocating the one it covers. As I prayed for this blanket to be lifted, in the spirit the person reached up, grabbed the blanket and yanked it back down over themselves. I prayed 3 times and 3 times they pulled the blanket back down. I stopped praying and asked the Lord what was happening for that person. He explained that the depression had now become their identity. If they didn’t have that, they wouldn’t know who they were anymore.

Now, I am definitely not criticising anyone with depression. I have been diagnosed in the past with clinical depression so I know the pit of darkness that it is. I also know that I wasn’t healed of it until I decided that I wanted to be.

A couple of leaders have told me that people have asked them not to pray for them because then they would lose their disability benefits. This is heartbreaking as they are missing out on so very much of the richness of life!

Another huge reason is that Christians don’t believe in healing so they don’t pray for it. As far as I can see, apart from Creation, God doesn’t do anything until people pray. His heart is to always partner with His children, you and me, to bring Heaven to earth.

There are a few other reasons that can prevent total healing from appearing but I’ll save those for another time. Ultimately, God can and does want to heal. The issue is NEVER on His side.

“We are not to change the nature of God because of our experiences.”

Here’s the bottom line:

“Jesus went throughout Galilee teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people”

Matthew 4:23 (NASB)

and

“Yahweh, you are my soul’s celebration.
How could I ever forget the miracles of kindness
you’ve done for me?
You kissed my heart with forgiveness, in spite of all I’ve done.
YOU’VE HEALED ME INSIDE AND OUT FROM EVERY DISEASE.”

Psalm 103:2-3 (TPT)

God WANTS to heal you today. It’s as simple as that.

If you don’t get healed today, you pray for and declare healing over yourself and your loved ones until healing comes. Don’t give up. I know it’s hard but the 3 things that you can hold onto:

** God is good ALL THE TIME
** God never lies and His Word is ALWAYS true
** Healing and restoration was and is ALWAYS God’s idea

I will leave you with these questions.

Is there sickness in Heaven? No.
Is there poverty in Heaven? Again no.
Is there mental torment in Heaven? Absolutely not.
Is there broken relationships in Heaven? Of course not.

Then if you and me are commanded to bring Heaven to earth (Matthew 6:10), so it makes perfect sense that anything short of seeing Heaven on earth is unacceptable.

Don’t you think?

Next week I am going to share some of the practicalities of actually HOW TO pray for the sick to see them healed. I can’t wait till then. It’s going to be fun!
