Does God Really Love You? You Bet He Does!

Does God Really Love You? You Bet He Does!

christian life Aug 30, 2016

Do you sometimes think, “Does God really love me?” or “Does He even know I exist?”

A resounding … YES HE DOES!

You are NOT an accident.

How do I know this?

There are many passages of Scripture that I love, but the one I love the most is Psalm 139. I encourage you to read it everyday to let it sink in to the very depths of your soul. It tells of how intimately God knows you, cares about you, and desperately loves you.

You may not know it but God formed your inward parts, right down to your DNA, and knitted you together in your mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13) Even if you were told, or even believe that you are an ‘accident’, let me assure you that you are not. God purposely knit you together and formed you for this exact time and the exact place that you are living in.

God NEVER makes mistakes. It’s impossible for Him to do so. He just can’t.

When I was a child, I used to knit all the time. I made baby jumpers, cardigans, hats, booties, I even made myself a jumper. It took a pattern, materials, a lot of concentration and time. It wasn’t haphazard. I carefully chose the wool – what colour, thickness, and softness it would be, which sized needles I would use, and what pattern I wanted to create. Unlike God, I made mistakes and sometimes had to start again, or get my mum to help me fix it up.

God is not like that. In Genesis, chapters 1 and 2, it tells the story of how God created the universe, the world, animals, plants, Adam and Eve. There was a pattern. There was a plan. It wasn’t haphazard. He saved the best till last – mankind.

The Bible also says, “Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Luke 12:7)

Do you sometimes find hair on the floor or on your clothes and discover that it is your own? Well, God still knows how many hairs are on your head – even after some have fallen out and some new growth has appeared.

Think about how many people are on the earth. A few billion, yet He knows how many hairs are on YOUR head. That should blow your mind right there. God also knows what your DNA and blood cells look like. He put them in your body. He knows everything about you. Nothing takes God by surprise ….. not even you.

No matter what you have been told or believe, God, the Creator of Heaven and earth, loves YOU!

Jesus chose to die …… just for you.

This is shown best by the Scripture in John 3:16. It is very well known, even by people who don’t know much about God. It says:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish but have eternal life.” (Parentheses mine)

Jesus chose to do this of His own free will. He didn’t have to. He chose to.

I am a mum of 6 beautiful children, 4 sons and 2 daughters, and to be honest, I am very sure that I would struggle to give up one of them to die for someone else, especially for someone who could care less about them. I would rather take their place. God gave up Jesus, not only to die for you and me, but to suffer terribly before and in His death, to take our place.

God is a Father with feelings. How do we know this? In Genesis 1:27 it says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” This verse doesn’t mean we were created to physically ‘look’ the same as God. It means that we were created with the same characteristics as He has. We have feelings therefore He has feelings. I am sure that God’s heart broke as He watched His only Son suffer so intensely through torture – physically, mentally and emotionally – yet He did this, because He loves YOU.

The best news ever!

But …… Jesus is now alive! Woo hoo! This is the best news ever. He is alive in Heaven and like He promised, He is always with you. (Hebrews 13:5b) You have a best friend who loves you no matter what you do or how many mistakes you make. Isn’t that amazingly awesome?

Action Step step

Read Psalm 139 at least once a day and begin to see and know how precious you are to God.

You ARE precious to God. You always have been and always will be.

I would love to hear in the comments below, which parts of Psalm 139 speak to you the loudest and how these verses have begun to change your thoughts about yourself.

Many blessings to you,
