How to End the Bushfires and the Drought

How to End the Bushfires and the Drought

christian life Jan 28, 2020

Have you been wondering what is going on in the world today?

The only way I can describe it is that there seems to be a ‘new level of stupid’ that has inflicted the world. I don’t know about you but it isn’t just in the world at large, but it also seems to be closer to home.

I have been seeking God specifically for a strategy to stop the recent bushfires and the drought that has inflicted our beautiful country of Australia, in parts, for the last 5 years.

Here is the answer that I sensed the Lord has given me:

1. Worship – we need to focus on God as Yahweh and Jesus as King.

2. We need to stop seeking rain as our provider and our answer to these horrific fires and the devastating drought. It is a temporary answer but it is not the final solution.

God is the answer who brings the solutions that we need

Having grown up in a small, remote country town where the main source of industry is farming and all the businesses related to that, I know the devastation and perils that drought brings. I have seen the large lake be almost completely dried up. It was a place where I swam and water skied as a teen.

Farmers are now committing suicide under the pressure of not having enough food to feed their crops and not having crops to harvest because of the lack of rain.

Bushfires have been raging near many populated areas – destroying people’s lives and belongings. Not to forget all the animals and ecosystems that are being completely annihilated in the process.

My heart is broken – as is the Father’s.

The real issue

The fires and drought are not only a battle in the natural realm but more-so a spiritual one.

I am deeply troubled when I hear prominent people use their voices to declare that these events are caused by God.

No they aren’t.

Father God wouldn’t do that.

It’s not who He is.

In 2020, we are in the age of the Better Covenant (Heb 7:22). Jesus is the full representation of God (Col 1:15) and judgement will not come until Judgement Day (Rom 2:5) at the culmination of Heaven and earth coming together (Eph 1:9)

(If you want to know more about the difference between the Old Covenant of the Old Testament and the Better Covenant of the New Testament, click here.)

When I first asked the Father what the real issue is behind this devastation his answer saddened me but I wasn’t surprised.

This is what He said:

“The people of Australia have changed masters.”

I asked Him what that means. He explained.

We, as a nation, have passed bills that are not the Father’s heart for His people. The same-sex marriage bill, mandatory vaccinations, partial birth abortions with many more on the table regarding the elimination of natural health treatments for disease.

God is a good Father. He is the Lord, He is Yahweh, He is Creator, and He is a gracious and holy Master over all. We are His children, His beloved, but we also must be His bondslaves.

(A bondslave is a person who used to be owned as a slave with no rights of their own. They become a ‘bondslave’ when they are freed but they choose to stay on in their position as a servant by their own free will and are treated well.)

That’s what the Body of Christ are. You and me were taken from being slaves of Satan to choosing to be servants, or bondslaves, of the Most High God.

Some have changed masters.

A large group of people have chosen to disregard the principles of Heaven and have turned to serve another god – the god of SELF.

There are 2 extremes seen in the bills mentioned above.

1. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want and you can’t stop me, or
2. I don’t like you having a choice for your life so I’ll make it for you because you are wrong

Either way, it’s all about self.

What can you and me do?

In light of all of this, what can you do?

God has a plan, He has the answers.

“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29:13 (NASB)

The answer lies here.

I have listened to many people talk about the issues that surround us and they are saying that rain is the answer.

Well no, it isn’t. It is a temporary solution.

Yes, we desperately need rain but we need a longterm solution.

Our enemy, the devil, now has a lot more attention than he deserves. He has a lot more people coming into agreement with him and this is bad news.

Each time a Believer says that the world is getting darker and that Satan is ruling, they are agreeing with the lie that the demonic realm is spreading. Yes, bad things are happening but Jesus has all authority over the earth – not Satan (Matt 28:18)

You and me must shift our focus to the King of kinds and the Lord of lords.

That’s Jesus!

You are to worship Him and focus solely on Him – not on the enemy who hates you.

What will break the drought and stop the bushfires?

ADORATION, FOCUS & WORSHIP

Luke 10:19 says that you have full authority over the devil, that you will trample on his head and live, because of what Jesus did.

The fact is, what you pay attention to and what you spend time thinking about, grows in size and importance in your mind.

This can be amazing or extremely dangerous.

We cannot give the enemy the time of day in thinking that he has more power than he has. He is a defeated foe (Heb 2:14) and he only has power returned to him when people give it to him.

How does that happen?

He plants a thought in your mind that the world is so bad so then you run with that thought. Suddenly, evil is highlighted and that’s what you begin to focus on. These thoughts overtake your mind and begins to grow at an alarmingly accelerated rate.

Now, the thoughts of the world gone bad are dominating your thoughts. What has unknowingly happened is that the enemy has now become huge in your mind and God has become significantly smaller.

A clever trick hey?

We must not bow to this tactic.

God is still in charge, is worthy of praise, is holy and righteous, and can bring to earth any solution you need – no matter how big or small.

It’s time to worship.

Rain is not our answer.

God is.

Let’s adore and worship the God who made the earth. Let’s focus on His goodness and thank Him for all that He has done for us. Let’s have grateful hearts to Jesus for all that He did for us – while He was on the earth, in His death and through His resurrection.

You and me have so much to praise God for and to be thankful about.

I know this was a long post but I truly felt that there needed to be some explanation.

You are never in a hopeless situation. NEVER!

We need to repent for ourselves worshipping ‘self’. We’ve all done it in some capacity.

Change starts with one person, and that person is you and that person is me.

All major events in history began with one person making one decision to make one change.

You can be that person. I can be that change.

I am so grateful to every person who has risked their lives to save others and their properties. I have friends who are firefighters and I admire and respect them so deeply. It’s also the Armed Forces, the volunteers and people in their own neighbourhoods who are stepping in to help. They truly do put others before themselves.

True acts of heroism indeed!

In our worship, let’s not forget to thank Father God for these courageous people and for His protection over them, their families and their belongings.

What do you feel God is saying to you about the events in your area? Have you sat quietly and asked Him for a strategy to solve a problem that you have personally or, one that is happening in your own town or city?
I would love to hear one thing that the Lord is sharing with you. Remember, He is now dropping creative strategies to solve many of earth’s issues. Our job is to bring Heaven to earth … God has all the answers in how to do this!

Many blessings to you and your families as we begin this exciting new era in 2020!
