Key #10 – Stand …. In Your Victory

Well, we have been on quite a journey discovering some of the different weapons of spiritual warfare that are found in the Bible.

The last weapon I want to share with you today is from Ephesians 6.

“Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”
(Ephesians 6:11 ESV)

How do you stand against these evil schemes? As well as all the other weapons we have looked at, the following verses give you more answers.

“Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”  (Ephesians 6:14-18 ESV)

When our children were young, I taught them how to act out putting on the ‘Armour of God’ onto their little bodies and I explained what it meant in the simplest way possible. It wasn’t until we had done this quite a few times that I realised that we should never take these off. This is actually a way of life.

The belt is ‘fastened on’. The breastplate is ‘put on’. The shoes of peace have been ‘given’ to us and ‘put on’. We ‘take up’ the shield, the helmet and the sword. We pray ‘at all times’ in the Spirit and then we ‘keep alert’.

Have you ever noticed that the armour covers and protects the front of our bodies but not the back? I believe that this is because the enemy doesn’t care if you face backwards. As long as he can keep you in the regrets, pain and bitterness of your past, then you are no longer a threat to his demonic kingdom.

But!

If you keep walking and moving forward, this evil realm has to keep a close eye on you because you are indeed a mighty threat and you can thwart their evil schemes. Very exciting!

Never take these off. They will keep you in inner peace and victory, no matter what is going on around you.

In verse 16 of Ephesians 6,  the Apostle Paul says, “In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish ALL the flaming darts of the evil one;” Faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). If you lack faith you can ask Him for it. “Faith please God.”

The evil realm throws darts eg. words, situations, sickness, lies etc. Faith in God and faith that He WILL help you and  deliver you from these darts is what extinguishes ‘ALL the flaming darts’. This verse shows that you can indeed have complete and total victory over the evil one. It just gets better all the time!

I just love that word – ALL. The Bible talks about how many sins He will forgive (ALL), people that came to Jesus and He healed them (ALL), people God is willing to heal today (ALL), and people He loves forevermore (ALL). It brings such encouragement that God leaves no-one out but pursues wholeheartedly each and every person on the planet.

After you have done all the above – YOU STAND.

Stand on what? Stand where? Stand how?

Stand on the promises that God has given you either in His Word, through prophetic words that have been given to you or through words that He has spoken to you personally. Have faith that His promises are true – because they are.

Stand at the line in the sand that you have drawn to say, “NO MORE!” to the demonic realm.

Stand tall, confident and strong that God has you, He’s bigger than anything that gets thrown at you and His plans for you are totally and outrageously amazing – no matter what the circumstances say.

The Truth (Jesus) will always outweigh the facts. If it’s not in Heaven, we don’t want it here. Because we are already the Bride of Christ and therefore co-heirs with Him, we have access to absolutely everything in Heaven that He has access to. You need healing? He has it. You need finances and provision? He has that too – in abundance. You need a miracle? You have come to the right place. Heaven has it all!

I can hear some of you squirming at my outlandish claims but remember, Jesus was the one who told us to ask for these things.

Matthew 6:10 (NASB) “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.”

In other words, God WANTS Heaven to literally come to the earth – to your situations, to your life.

This is indeed good news!

“You do not have, because you do not ask.”  James 4:2 (ESV)

Whatever you need today – ask. The Lord is longing to answer you.

In Conclusion

One of my favourite verses when I’m still standing is Exodus 14:14 (AMPC).

“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.”

Remember, it is ALWAYS God’s will for you to be healed, to live an abundant life, and to rule and reign in every situation you find yourself in. His grandest desire is to have a personal and intimate relationship with you so that together, you will advance the Kingdom of God throughout the earth. This is truly an amazing thought. He partners with you and Me to fulfil His purposes in our own little world.

Don’t Give Up! God is on your side.
