In everyone’s life, there is a defining moment when a situation occurs and a decision has to be made – a stake must be placed in the proverbial ground.
A situation happened in the last week that cut me very deeply. Remember the last time you had one of those? What was your reaction? I had a hissy fit about it but then I went and prayed about it. Can I just suggest that it might be a good idea to go and pray BEFORE the hissy fit comes out of your mouth! I’m still practising.
Lies wound the soul. There is nothing that cuts me more than being lied to. When I had discovered the lie, I had a choice. I didn’t choose the right way at first. However, I did second. Not the ideal but I got to that place WAY quicker than I usually would. I had to place my stake in the ground.
I drew a figurative line and said, “OK God. I cannot change this person. I cannot stop them from lying. I can, however, forgive them, love them just as they are, let God take care of them …… and get on with my life.
I went to the person and apologised for my part in the mess. I reacted instead of responding. I made sure that they knew that their sin had nothing to do with my reaction. It didn’t!
Another person’s sin has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR REACTION.
No-one can MAKE you do anything! No-one can MAKE you feel angry. No-one can MAKE you feel sad. No-one can even MAKE you feel happy.
Does this shock you? It should because that’s what we are told everywhere we look. It’s ALWAYS someone else’s fault don’t you know. By the way, want some forbidden fruit with that blame? Sound familiar?!
There is much happening in the world at the moment that can seemingly MAKE you angry. You have to learn and know how to respond. You must learn how to place a stake in the ground, not let the situation, any situation overtake you and decide to lean on God. You need to know what you believe. You need to find out what His heart for your situation is and for you. You need to ask Him what to do next and ask Him to heal your wounded soul. The soul is where our mind. will and emotions are and this is the area that affects everything else in our lives.
Place Your Stake In The Ground Today.
Let’s together put a stake in the ground and tell the enemy, “No More! You can no longer cross this line. You are no longer going to upset me in this area. I will no longer be ruled by my emotions in this situation. BACK OFF!” All in Jesus’ Name of course because without Jesus, we are toast!
Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP) says,
“Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”
Any situation that you have in your life can be shared with the Lord. He knows EVERYTHING. Nothing takes Him by surprise. He wants to help you navigate through whatever you are facing – grief, sadness, embarrassment, marriage, illness, confusion about the direction our beautiful country is going – God knows it all.
Decide today to trust God, lean on Him and know that God has it, He has YOU in His hands.
He knows what’s going on.
He can help ….. you only need to ask of Him and He WILL answer you (Jeremiah 33:3).
PLACE YOUR STAKE IN THE GROUND!
Bless you today and I pray that you will feel a closeness to your Heavenly Father who loves you so desperately, even more than you ever have before. He created you amazing, don’t ever forget that.
