Want Answers? Ask Jesus

Want Answers? Ask Jesus

all about jesus christian life Feb 14, 2017

It’s as simple as that ….

Then, all you have to do is wait for the answer. That can be the challenging part.

Think for a moment. What do you do when you first have a problem that needs solving, or you are confused about a situation? Do you spend copious amounts of time striving to find the answer in your own brain (it can be scary in there), do you call someone, or do you spend time with Mr Google?

Now, I am not saying that any of these are wrong, they most certainly aren’t. I do all three. What I am proposing is another way.

Years ago, I was leading a women’s group at our local church. One of my most favourite verses is, “You do not have, because you do not ask.” (James 4:2) I had prepared a treasure hunt and the ladies needed to search around the church and the grounds to find all of the listed items. I had strategically listed items that I knew full well would not likely be found. Before and throughout the short time of their searching, I kept saying, “If you get stuck, ASK ME.” As their frustration level rose (they were very competitive ladies), I kept reiterating, “If you get stuck, ASK ME.” They would complain to me that the list was too hard. Again I would say, “If you get stuck, ASK ME.”

The most amazing thing was, no-one caught on. I had a stash with me that included multiple items on the list that they were searching for. No-one ASKED ME. I was happy to give them anything they asked for. They could have asked me for every item on the list and I would have been more than willing to share.

I was listening to Bill Johnson of Bethel Church in Redding again this week. He was speaking about the story in Mark 9:14-29 when the disciples were trying to deliver a boy from a mute and deaf spirit. Nothing was working so they asked Jesus why their prayers weren’t working. Jesus gave them the answer they needed, went over and delivered the boy from his torment. Bill brought to light the fact that the disciples went and ASKED JESUS PRIVATELY, “Why could we not cast it out?” (Mark 9:28)  Jesus very happily gave them the answer they were searching for.

The key isn’t in the answer of ‘prayer and fasting’. The key is in the asking.

If Jesus knows everything, wouldn’t it be wise to ask Him for the answers you seek?

2 Ways I Have Discovered Jesus Answers Prayers.

  1. He will either give you the answer via various means OR,
  2. He remains silent.

I shared here “How To Get Your Prayers Answered”. It’s the story of how God answered a prayer about a sick relative and how His answer alleviated all stress and worry.

Jesus WANTS to answer your questions. He answered questions thrown at him while He was on earth. It may not have been what people wanted to hear but nevertheless, He answered, and He still wants to today.

What Do You Do When Jesus Is Silent?

Wait. I have found this to be true in every circumstance. Whether I wait long enough at times is a totally different story. What do you do if there is still no answer? Store it in the ‘Mystery File’, as Bill Johnson calls it. God is not obligated to tell us anything. Remember, He knows EVERYTHING, we don’t. Maybe the answer will hurt us. Maybe we aren’t mature enough yet to handle the answer. Maybe it’s a timing thing. Maybe we will never know this side of Heaven.

Whichever way, always remember this very fundamental and important fact:

GOD IS GOOD ………. ALL THE TIME!

That fact never changes, and it never will. He is good. The Word says it so it must be true. Choose to believe this truth and it will alter your life for the better. He won’t answer you if it is not for your good.

Choose also to believe that Jesus really does want to answer your questions. He loves you unconditionally.

Ask Him anything. He can handle it.

What do you need answers for today? Ask the One who can be trusted to give you the answers you need, and who will work it all together for your good. (Romans 8:28)

Many blessings to you, as always,
