Where Is Your Biggest Battle Today?

The answer may surprise you.

Life is so amazing but there are times when there are struggles that can be almost overwhelming.

Where is your biggest battle today?

Maybe you are wondering where the money will come from to pay an unexpected bill.
Maybe you are in a situation where you are being bullied and feel unsafe.
Maybe you are in such a sad state that you wonder if there really is a light at the end of the tunnel.
You could be waiting for a diagnosis and wondering what the future holds.
You may be hanging onto a promise that doesn’t seem to be coming anytime soon.

It is known in the medical community that when a cancer patient accepts their diagnosis as a death sentence, they very rarely recover. However, those who decide to fight, a lot of the time survive. What’s the difference? What thoughts they allow to take up residence in their mind.

No matter what is going on in your life, your greatest battle is the one that rages …… between your ears.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.”    Ephesians 6:12

These past 2 weeks I have been through one of the strongest mind battles of my life. Have you been in a situation where the thoughts just seem to overtake your mind and you almost feel powerless against them?

Nothing had changed in my life but the spirits of depression and anxiety were literally banging on the door of my mind and I was struggling to keep them out. I have not struggled to this intensity in years. I knew what was coming against me. I had dealt with these spirits for most of my life so I was familiar with their tactics.

Except ……

Their usual tactics no longer worked because I was confessing the Word of God and I am getting to know the true power and bigness of our mighty God.

Demons don’t like that much.

Telling me the usual lies wasn’t working so they went to a deeper level. To be honest, I thought that I had dealt with most of the traumas and pain that had occurred in my life. These filthy creatures pinpointed things that had created deep, soul-wrenching pain from the past and brought them to the surface.

Seriously?! Are we really here again?!! Man, I was so mad!

For a moment, I was ready to give up. BUT GOD!

He quietly asked me to go to my bedroom and just sit with Him so He could talk. I did. He began to give me pictures of my future and the future of my family. He began to remind me of the miracles that I have seen. God, as my Heavenly Father, showed me a picture of a specific flower. I didn’t know what that meant so I Googled it. (Gotta love the internet.) This particular flower had the meaning of a promise that God had given to me 22 years ago.

That was all I needed.

It was time to fight back …. with a vengeance.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”    Romans 12:2

You are not to think how the world or the demonic realm thinks. You are only to think what God thinks about you, about other people, and His perspective of the world around you.

THEN …..

…. you will know what the will of God is. You will know what and who the Truth is and no demon in hell can stand up against you.

You can believe whatever you want, that’s the wonderful thing about free will. You will only be set free by being transformed by renewing the thoughts of your mind.

So, how do you transform your mind?

Firstly, know that there is a mighty, personal, Heavenly Father who loves you passionately and that He wants an intimate relationship with you. Nothing you could do, say or think could make Him love you any more than He already does. You just need to make a decision to receive it.

Secondly, relax and be confident that you DO hear the Shepherd’s voice (John 10:27) – that would be Jesus. John 4:26 says that Holy Spirit will “teach us all things”. Make time to sit and ask Holy Spirit what He would like to show you and teach you about today.

Thirdly, you have been given the mind of Christ if you have given your life to Him. This means that you can think His thoughts. Read the Bible, especially the New Testament and discover what His thoughts truly are then think on these things (Philippians 4:8).

To summarise

Have you seen people who go through horrendous things but they seem to stay so peaceful? It’s infuriating I know but you and me have access to this peace, 24 hours a day. It’s all about what thoughts they let settle in their minds and where their focus is.

Don’t let the negative thoughts sit. Throw them out and speak out truth. Focus on the One who can help you – Jesus. He is beautiful and you have access to ALL the answers that you could ever need, all you need to do is ask.

Action Plan

• Make a conscious effort to take note of what thoughts are popping into your head today. If there’s anything negative or critical say, “talk to the hand because the ears aren’t listening.”
• Replace that thought with another truth of the Bible or a positive thought. Speak it out loud if you have to.
• If you speak in tongues, do it. I find that this is a fantastic way to defeat the enemy’s lies. I wrote about this here.
• When the negative thoughts come, and they do, ask Holy Spirit to show you where the thought is actually coming from. The demons will try to convince you that the thoughts are from you. I can assure you, most of the time they aren’t. Ask Holy Spirit to reveal to you the pain point that this thought is triggering in your life. Once He has done that, ask the Lord to come and heal that point. He will do it. All you need to do is ask. Then, if those thoughts come at you again, you will recognise them for what they are and the pain will no longer be attached.

I just love what Nick Vujucic says, “Stand at the gates of hell and redirect traffic.”

It’s the same with your mind. Stand at the gate and redirect the thoughts that come in. Anything that is not truth, don’t let it stay. You wouldn’t let a bird take up residence in your hair. It’s the same thing. Don’t let the lies of the enemy, or of other people take up residence in your mind.

You have the power through Holy Spirit to do this. No-one can do it for you.

IT’S TIME TO TAKE YOUR LIFE BACK FROM THE ENEMY AND LIVE THE LIFE YOU WERE CREATED FOR!

If you are struggling today with thoughts that bombard you, take heart. There is a way out. The demonic realm would have you believe that you have no power but in Jesus, you have ALL power and the demons have none (Heb 2:14).
