Have you ever had a day or a week where you had the thought, “I kinda wish I was in Heaven right now”? Not because you want to die or anything. It would just be sooooo nice to be in a place where peace reigns, all your needs are met, and someone isn’t sitting on the car horn behind you, flapping their arms saying choice words (I can read lips you know), all because you are letting someone come out of a petrol station driveway! True story.
Can you relate?
Have you ever sat and daydreamed about what Heaven will be like? What will you do there? Will you have jobs to do? Or are you constantly face down in the throne room of God?
There are many testimonies out there of people who have seen Heaven. All you have to do is do a YouTube search and there you will find many. Some are somewhat bizarre but for the most part, they describe Heaven as full of love, colour and overwhelming beauty.
I once had a dream where I lifted up the side of a what looked like a circus tent flap and inside was the most intense light that I had ever seen. It was blinding white but strangely enough, I could still look at it. As I stood there looking, I could hear what could only be described as what I imagine standing under Niagara Falls would sound like. It was deafening but again, I could listen to it.
To be honest, I dream so much every night that I didn’t take much notice but I never forgot it. Years later, while I was reading about the ‘sound of rushing waters in Revelation 1, I was taken back to that dream. I knew that God is light (1 John 1:5) so I have since wondered if my spirit was actually tasting a glimpse of Heaven.
Your Greatest Mandate On Earth
In what is called ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, which should be more correctly entitled ‘The Disciples’ Prayer’, Jesus says, “‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.'” (Matthew 6:10 NASB)

2. Bring all that is in Heaven to the earth.
“But wait!” I hear you say. “Isn’t God going to blow up the earth into a gazillion tiny pieces at the end of time?” Well, that’s a whole other blog post but what I will do for now is quote Scripture:
“… with regard to the fulfilment of the times [that is, the end of history, the climax of the ages]—to bring all things together in Christ, [both] things in the heavens and things on the earth.” Ephesians 1:10 (AMP)
The ESV version says, “to unite all things in him”. Hmmm. No talk of destruction here. God’s plan is very clear. At the end of time, He will unite the things in the heavens and the things on the earth.
And you get to be a part of this uniting. You get to partner with the God who created the entire well, everything and bring Heaven to earth. How exciting is that! Now that’s a purpose.
The question is, how do you do this?
You live in 2 places at once
Did you know that you not only live on earth but you are also seated in Heavenly places with Jesus? Right now? As you are reading this sentence? What an incredibly awesome thought!
“Even when we were dead in our transgressions, (God) made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:5-7 (NASB)
The Apostle Paul is not talking about after we die. He is talking about right now! I do understand that this might be a foreign concept to some but it’s true. After you asked Jesus to be the Lord of your life, God made you alive with Christ and you are now seated in Heavenly places with Him.
Do you know what this means? You are already in Heaven as well as here. You already have access to all that you need for your lifetime. Think about it. If you didn’t already have access to Heaven, how could Jesus have said to bring Heaven to earth? To bring a present to a party, you have to already have it in your hands.
This is amazingly good news!
The Bible says in Matthew 21:22 (ESV), “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
What exactly is the ‘whatever’?
What do you need?
Food, clothing, a job, a home to live in, finances to build a dream that will help others, creative ideas, wisdom, knowledge ……. Fill in the blank. There are thousands of things you could ask for that is specific to your needs.
In the above verse, Jesus said that you can have whatever you ask for if you believe that God will give it to you. Of course, He may not give you a million dollars to spend on yourself. Get specific. Ask God for what you need today, believe that you will have it and it will be yours.
I am practising this very concept. A couple of weeks ago I was washing our son’s doona covers and sheets. I realised that they were a bit young for him and were very worn so I almost flippantly said, “Lord, could he please have another doona cover?” To be honest, I didn’t think too much about it other than the above verse.
The very next day, a beautiful friend texted me to ask if I would like some sheets or linen. I asked her what kind and she responded with, “Whatever you would like to buy. I would like to give you some money to buy what you want.” Wow! Talk about fast responses. Now, I have never had such a quick response to prayer before in this regard but it proves the point.
You don’t have because you don’t ask the One who can get it for you. (James 4:2)
Well, this post is getting mighty long so I will pause here and continue next week. I have so much more to share with you about this topic. I hope this has whetted your appetite for more of Heaven on earth.
How about you? Is there a topic that you would like to read about here? I would love to hear them so please let me know either in the comments below or via the contact form.
Have an amazing week!
