You’re OK. God’s Got You.

You’re OK. God’s Got You.

christian life Apr 02, 2019

It’s true! He really does.

Do you sometimes feel like your life is spinning out of control and you wonder if this wheel will ever come to a grinding halt?

Do you remember a time when you felt so battered by the world around you that you wondered if you would ever recover? Maybe you are there now.

I want to assure you …. you WILL survive this.

God’s got you!

Some time ago we had a huge hail storm. The hail stones weren’t quite as big as golf balls but they weren’t far off. My eldest son had just gotten his hail cover on his car as the storm began and he saw people up and down the street, running outside with blankets and towels trying desperately to protect their cars from the onslaught.

We had so much rain on and off after then that I didn’t need to go out and water our plants. As I walked past our 2 Agave plants I noticed all the hail damage marks on them. Wow!

Even plants have scars.

Our huge Agave plant
The hail had left their mark

Even though the hail had beaten these leaves pretty hard and were now left with a reminder of what had occurred, they still stood up tall and were going about their daily business of growing and bringing joy to our hearts.

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
2 CORINTHIANS 4:7‭-‬9 NASB

If you are in a challenging time of your life right now let me encourage you:

You will not be crushed

You will not be despairing

You will never be forsaken, and

You will not be destroyed.

That’s a promise to you right from God’s heart to yours.

How incredible is that!

I have a scar on my leg from when I fell onto a barb wired fence as a child. I remember the incident because the scar reminds me of it, however, there is no pain attached.

I don’t know about you but I find emotional scars take a much longer time to heal. The words people say, the manipulation tactics used by others and the lies that the demonic realm tell you seem to hurt a lot greater than a physical wound.

So, where to from here?

Maybe you feel as though your life has just been or is in the middle of a hail storm.

There is really good news ….

… your Heavenly Father, God, is with you every step of the way. You are never, ever alone and He has a Heavenly strategy to help you get through it … victorious!

Now, I know that’s easy for me to say, but it may not be so easy for you to believe.

Let me give you some practical tips on how to victoriously get through a challenging time.

Actions Steps

1. Put God in His proper place – bigger than your circumstances.

One of the biggest lies that the demons will tell you is that your circumstances are way bigger than God. This is not victorious thinking. You need a revelation that God is bigger than anything. He created EVERYTHING after all.

Take some time each day to sit in a quiet spot, with no distractions (you could use instrumental worship music if that helps you focus), and think about the bigness of God. Use your imagination and picture God bigger than anything you can imagine. He’s bigger than the entire earth and universe, yet so incredible that He knows every hair on your head and every DNA strand that is in each and every person on the entire planet – including the people who have been and who are yet to be born.

If you have ever worried about anything, you are actually meditating – but on the wrong thoughts.

This is intentional thinking and meditating – not in the mystical sense. Meditating means to think about something consciously and purposefully, over and over again. If you have ever worried about anything, you are actually meditating but on the wrong thoughts. It’s just a matter of changing what you think about and intentionally thinking of the Word of God and past miracles instead.

2. Read, ponder, and memorise the Word of God.

Read through some chapters of the Book of Psalms. Find Scriptures that describe the goodness, the faithfulness, the capability, and the love of God as Father. Psalm 103 is a wonderful chapter to meditate on.

Read through the Gospels – Matthew, Mark, John, Luke and then Acts. See the amazing things that Jesus did while on earth and the miracles that the disciples did after that. Just this past week, someone challenged me to just read the ‘red letters’ in those books – only the words that Jesus spoke. That would really be interesting.

3. Thank and praise God for who He is.

Look at Paul, how he rejoiced in his God while he was in jail. An earthquake came and and swung wide open the prison doors and all the chains fell off the prisoners, including Paul and Silas. (Acts 16:25:26).

Intentionally think of what it would have been like for these men in a cold, dank cell. Put yourself in their place. Imagine yourself singing to God in such a place. These men seemingly had nothing to be thankful for but they didn’t focus on themselves or their surroundings. They focused on their loving and powerful God.

Thanks and praise bring miracles. Our 3rd son had all the markers for Downs Syndrome removed from his body in my womb because I sang praises to God (well screamed actually) for hours on end on a weekend.

Sit down and make a list of everything that you can be thankful for today. The fact that you are even reading this means that you are alive and have sight. My guess is that you have had at least one meal today. No matter how small things might seem, write them down and then read over them, aloud, and tell God how thankful you are for each thing.

Of all the voices you believe the most, it’s your own that can convince you of anything.

It’s a start and I can bet that you will begin feeling better each time you do this.

4. Remember past miracles.

What miracles have you seen in your life? We have all seen them. Maybe a train pulled up at the station a bit late, just as you were, which meant you got to work on time. Maybe someone did something nice for you when you were having a really bad day. Maybe you have seen someone healed yourself. You have seen answers to prayer. It’s a good idea to keep a record of miracles so that when things feel a little bleak, you can look back and be reminded that God really does have your back.

If you are ever short on good things that God has done, do a search on YouTube for miracle healing testimonies. God is bigger than anything you could possibly think up.

Even though yours and my circumstances can change in an instant, you can be assured that God will never change. Any promise you find in the Bible for protection, provision, justice, blessing, is yours to take hold of today. You just have to believe it and know that God will bring it to pass.

5. Always remember that Satan and his minions are defeated foes.

Hebrews 2:14 (NASB) says, “Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

This, my friend, is mighty good news!

He has no power in your life unless you give it to him. The place that you give power to him is in your mind. It’s not in your circumstances. It’s not even in anything that anyone can do to you. It’s all about how you respond or react when these things come.

I wrote about this in greater detail here.

This is why the above strategies are so vitally important in overcoming challenges and living a victorious life. The battle really is in your mind and your mouth.

Always remember that God is working behind the scenes.

Finally ….

Remember that God said to Joshua,“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (ESV)

This is a promise personally for you today. King David asks God in Psalm 139, “Where can I flee from Your presence?” and then goes onto describe how God is absolutely everywhere and there is nowhere that any of us could go to get away from Him. I don’t know about you but that brings me great comfort. God truly is everywhere!

As God told a dear friend when they were struggling in their heart, “I’ve got it!”

Indeed He has. God’s got it. God’s got you and He will never let you go.

Whatever challenge you are facing or will face in the future, God has the answers. There’s nothing He cannot do.

Hold on, dear and precious child. The best is yet to come.

What can you think of to be thankful for today? What miracles have you seen, either recent or in the past? Please share them below so we can encourage each other.

Many blessings to you and remember, God’s got you!
